Our Founder.

Michael Kootchick started Crowbar Construction in 1995 beginning with purchasing, renovating and managing multifamily housing communities in San Diego, Austin and Las Vegas. He continues to serve as President and CEO and remains hands-on in every aspect of the business.

In 1997 Michael turned his focus to ground-up new construction, specializing in building multifamily apartments and condominiums. He owns and operates several real estate related ventures and entities including Silver Oak Realty Services Inc., DK Realty Holdings Inc, and S.O.S. Management and Property Services Inc. To date, his companies have constructed, managed, and renovated on over $500 million in project value.

Michael loves the feasibility and design process involved with taking an underused piece of property and developing it into its highest and best use. His goal for the future is to partner with like-minded investors and clients who share his vision in wanting to provide San Diego County with much needed affordable entry-level housing for both the rental community and home buyers.

Born in suburban Philadelphia, Michael is a graduate of the University of Southern California and has called San Diego home for 24 years, currently residing in Carlsbad with his two children and wife of 20 years. He’s an avid sports enthusiast and animal lover with a passion for boating, fishing, the outdoors and travel.

Michael is a licensed general contractor, licensed real estate broker and salesperson, member of the Local and National Apartment Associations, San Diego Association of Realtors and BIA (Builders Industry Association).
